Exfoliating Scrub

In general, exfoliating scrubs come in lotion sized bottles and in many varieties. The purpose of the scrub is deep exfoliation for those who need more than a brush or exfoliating soap alone. Scrubs are generally more harsh than creams and soap, and should not be used regularly by people with extremely sensitive skin. Always try a new product first on a small patch of skin to see how it effects your particular skin type.

Scrubs can contain ground coffee, loofah, salts, grains, pumice, and many other types of natural abrasive materials. There are so many imaginative types of exfoliating scrubs that are believed to have positive benefits for the health of your skin. Herbs, walnut shells, coconut, sugar, and others not only smell great, but may help your skin glow with a healthy natural looking shine.

A daily deep exfoliating scrub for your face may be too much for some skin types and cause drying or other irritation. A daily removal of dead skins cells is necessary, but it can be overdone. So always be sure to start slowly and keep your face from over-exfoliation.

Most scrubs should be gently rubbed into your face in a circular pattern, then rinsed with lukewarm water. Cold water can cause your pores to close, and water that is too hot can leave your skin red and mildly burned. Your goal is healthy beautiful skin, so always be cautious and know the limitations of your skin type.

Exfoliation serves to remove dead cells from the surface of one’s skin. The same may be undertaken, not just on the face – as is widely known, but also on pretty much any part of the body, especially the hands and legs.

That said, there are a variety of ways in which you could exfoliate your skin; you could apply either natural or chemical exfoliating agents, or you could even use facial/body scrubs to manually scrub out the exterior dead cells. In this article, we explore some of the natural exfoliating scrub that is capable of being made, right from the comfort of one’s home.

But before that, you might wonder, why take the trouble of making one’s own exfoliating agent, when the same is readily available in the market. Well, first, it is definitely a whole lot of fun, putting together assorted ingredients and witnessing them come to life as excellent exfoliating agents. Secondly, by making your own exfoliating agent, you have a very good idea of exactly what goes into something that you are going to apply on delicate parts of your body, such as the skin on your face. With chemical products from outside, the fact is, you really do not know what goes into them.

That said, let us now look at some excellent exfoliating scrub that you can easily make at home.

Honey and Oats

When combined together, honey and oats make an excellent exfoliating scrub. What you can essentially do is take some oats and crush them together, either using your hands or a grinder. Then mix pure honey into it – perhaps a tablespoon or more as per requirement. For added effect, you could also consider adding basil oil to the mixture. All these ingredients together form a very potent and highly effective exfoliating scrub. That is because each of these ingredients possesses excellent exfoliating capabilities. Honey, as we all know, possesses unique antioxidant capability. Oat in turn is a natural and highly effective exfoliate agent. Basil oil essentially serves the purpose of bringing the two together, and creating a binding scrub. In case your skin is immensely gentle and possibly prone to rashes etc., you could always consider replacing basil oil with tea tree oil which is known to be significantly milder in comparison.

Apply this scrub on your face, hands, legs and wherever else you deem feasible and keep it on for about 15 minutes, before washing it off with tepid water.

You will see a whole new, bedazzling you in front of the mirror, once you take the scrub off!

Other Exfoliating Agents

Remember that there are a whole host of other exfoliating agents that are just about as effective, as the aforementioned. Ayurveda, the ancient Indian science of medicine, alone has a number of exfoliating agents on proffer. Walnut shells as well as coconut shreds also serve as excellent exfoliating agents. You could always combine them with more delicate items such as rose or other flower petals, orange peels, sage, lemongrass, rosemary, and so on, to make excellent exfoliate agents.

Just to reiterate, when it comes to exfoliate agents, you are pretty much hindered, only by your imagination!
